2026 answer engine optimisation guide

Best AEO Agencies in the UK

Compare AEO providers by evidence and scope.

For a fixed-fee audit with direct consultant access, consider Sunny Patel (my consultancy). Compare the providers below by their actual delivery scope, evidence and reporting.

How to use this guide: compare 8 providers, including my clearly labelled consultancy and 7 external options. The list is alphabetical. These are editorial fit assessments, not independently tested rankings. Read the research method and disclosures.

Start with the work you need

Which AEO agencies and consultants should you compare?

Filter by your delivery gap. An audit, a digital PR campaign and an ongoing technical programme solve different problems. The suggested fits come from each provider's published services.

Read the evidence in context

What does each AEO provider offer?

These profiles distinguish service promises from public case studies. Provider-reported results have different samples, periods and definitions; they are not a like-for-like performance ranking.

Aira

Digital PR as the off-site part of an AEO programme

Sources checked

Aira positions relevant earned coverage and third-party mentions as support for generative-search visibility. Consider it when the missing capability is digital PR, particularly for finance and other sectors with demanding approval processes.

Pricing: Aira publishes digital PR starting generally from £3,000 per month. This is a PR starting price, not a complete AEO programme quote. Confirm scope and VAT.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: Its personal-loans case reports coverage, links and search-position changes. That is PR and organic-search evidence, rather than a measured AI-citation result. Aira says bottom-line attribution for that case was not completed.

Ask before hiring: Which AI-search sources would you target, and what measurement or technical work needs another team?

Scope to confirm: This profile covers off-site GEO and PR. Confirm who owns technical work and AI measurement.

Distinctly

Consumer brands coordinating content, search and PR

Sources checked

Distinctly's AI-search offer combines visibility tracking, content and structured data, competitor analysis, digital PR and referral reporting. Consider it for consumer, ecommerce and travel brands that need content and PR to work together.

Pricing: Quote required. No fixed AEO fee was published on the reviewed service page.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: The Away Resorts case reports organic growth alongside a combined uplift labelled LLM visibility and revenue. That wording does not establish a separate revenue figure. Ask for the definition, baseline and attribution before using it to forecast your results.

Ask before hiring: Which outcomes in the case study came from AI referrals, and which came from wider organic work?

Scope to confirm: Separate AI visibility, organic traffic and revenue definitions in the proposal.

Impression

B2B brands with complex sites and an in-house team

Sources checked

Impression offers GEO audits and delivery across technical SEO, content, digital PR and AI visibility reporting. Its service includes prompt tracking, mentions, citations, sentiment and referral or conversion measurement.

Pricing: Bespoke quote required for audits and ongoing work. No standard GEO price is published.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: Its Tensar case reports AI Overview citations tracked in Ahrefs and Search Console traffic for keywords displaying AI Overviews. Those keyword clicks are not an isolated count of clicks on AI Overview citations. Ask for the reporting boundaries.

Ask before hiring: How will your dashboard distinguish AI Overview keyword traffic from directly attributable AI referrals?

Scope to confirm: Agree the reporting definitions and who implements technical and content changes.

Reboot Online

Established brands wanting research and coordinated GEO delivery

Sources checked

Reboot's GEO service covers audits, prompt research, visibility mapping, technical and content work, digital PR and reporting. Its published research and client cases give buyers specific methods to question before commissioning a programme.

Pricing: GEO retainers start from £2,500 per month; GEO audits typically start from £5,000. These cover different scopes. Confirm the full fee, term and VAT.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: The TUI case describes a set of 10 monitored prompts and reports presence across all 10. That is a result within a selected tracked set, not evidence that TUI appears in every relevant AI answer. Request repeated runs and the before-and-after period.

Ask before hiring: How are prompts selected, and how much does the result change when you repeat the same test?

Scope to confirm: Confirm the prompt sample, delivery allowance and what happens after an audit.

Rise at Seven

Consumer brands investing across search, content and PR

Sources checked

Rise at Seven's AI SEO offer includes prompt research, citation and sentiment analysis, technical and entity work, content and digital PR. Consider it for consumer or ecommerce campaigns requiring several discovery channels and substantial implementation capacity.

Pricing: Its services page states minimums of £5,000 per month or £15,000 per project. Another onsite-SEO page starts at £4,000. These are broader service figures, not a fixed AI SEO tariff; request a current quote and VAT treatment.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: Its AI service page presents brand examples alongside visibility claims. The linked Parkdean Easter campaign establishes campaign work; ask for a separate AI baseline, tracked surfaces and attributable outcomes rather than treating PR coverage as an AI result.

Ask before hiring: Which part of the fee changes owned content, and which part funds research, PR or other channels?

Scope to confirm: Request the AI-search deliverables and implementation allowance within the wider programme.

The author's own consultancy

Sunny Patel

A fixed-fee AI visibility audit with direct consultant access

Sources checked

My AI Visibility Audit covers repeated prompt runs, technical access, entity information, source analysis, three competitors and a prioritised 90-day plan. It is intended for mid-size and large UK businesses with considered buying journeys and includes a walkthrough.

Pricing: £1,500 fixed audit, advertised for delivery in two weeks. Fractional support starts at £1,500 per month. Confirm scope, availability and VAT before booking.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: I publish selected portfolio AI-referral observations and report that a healthcare client found my practice through Bing Copilot before hiring me. The acquisition account is mine. It is not an independently audited result or a basis for claiming exclusivity over other providers.

Ask before hiring: Which prompts and competitors will you measure, and who will implement the resulting plan?

Scope to confirm: An audit delivers a plan. Agree implementation separately and confirm my capacity.

Connection disclosed: This is my consultancy and I wrote this guide. My inclusion is a commercial interest, not an independent recommendation.

The SEO Works

An established search team combining organic SEO and GEO

Sources checked

The SEO Works publishes dedicated GEO and AI optimisation services covering question research, structured content and citation or referral measurement. Consider it when answer-engine work needs to sit within an ongoing organic-search programme.

Pricing: Quote required for paid services. A free LLM audit is advertised; no fixed ongoing AEO price was published on the reviewed pages.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: Its pool-rental case reports a citation rate across a 14-query AI Overview subset. That denominator matters: the figure is not a rate across all customer searches. Other cases use referral and sales measures, which need separate definitions.

Ask before hiring: Which measure in your case study matches our objective, and what is its denominator?

Scope to confirm: Confirm paid delivery beyond the advertised free LLM audit and separate each reporting metric.

Tom Riley

Direct AI-search consultancy for competitive service sectors

Sources checked

Tom Riley offers AI-search and SEO consultancy spanning audits, implementation, digital PR and entity-focused work. His published experience includes insurance and fintech, making those relevant sectors to ask about during a scope discussion.

Pricing: Quote required. No fixed consultancy fee was published on the reviewed pages.

Evidence, scope and what to ask

Published evidence: His site describes client citations, recommendations and lead stories. Treat those as practitioner-reported accounts and request dates, prompts and supporting analytics for a comparable project.

Ask before hiring: Can you show the prompt set, repeated observations and enquiry evidence behind a comparable case?

Scope to confirm: Confirm direct delivery capacity, implementation responsibilities and measurement access.

Connection disclosed: Tom has included me in his GEO and AI SEO consultant guides. That connection is disclosed so you can weigh this inclusion.

Know what the result actually measures

A mention, a citation and a customer are different results

Brand mention
The answer names your business. It may have no link, and the surrounding information can still be wrong. Record the context.
Linked citation
The answer links to a source. Record whether that source is your website or a third-party page about you. A link does not establish a visit.
Referral visit
Analytics records a visit from an identifiable assistant source. Some journeys lose attribution, and referral visits do not count every AI appearance.
Qualified enquiry or sale
A relevant visitor takes a business action. Connect the enquiry or transaction to your attribution evidence and record any uncertainty.

Illustrative measurement example, not campaign results: ten prompts tested three times produce 30 observed answers. Twelve brand mentions give a 40% mention rate in that sample. Six answers linking to your site give a 20% linked-citation rate.

Neither percentage is market-wide share of voice or proof of revenue. Agree the measurement method before work starts.

What is AEO, and how does it relate to GEO and SEO?

Answer engine optimisation (AEO) is work intended to improve how a business appears in answers, recommendations and cited sources. Providers also use generative engine optimisation (GEO) and AI SEO for overlapping services. The label alone does not define the work you are buying.

Ask which surfaces the proposal covers: ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode or another named product. A result from one surface does not establish visibility in another. Agree the relevant country, language and business questions before comparing agencies.

SEO remains part of this work. A useful AEO programme combines accessible pages, accurate business information, relevant content and credible source coverage with measurement suited to the selected answer engines. It does not replace the need for a website that helps people decide and enquire.

Google says its existing SEO practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google requires no special AI files or dedicated schema for these features, and eligibility does not guarantee inclusion. See Google's AI features guidance.

For this shortlist, compare the actual delivery gap: diagnosis, technical implementation, content, digital PR or an ongoing programme. A company selling only PR can help with one part without being the right owner of the entire engagement.

What should an AEO agency deliver?

An AEO proposal needs a baseline, a delivery plan and an agreed method for evaluating change. Request named outputs and implementation responsibilities across these five areas.

  1. Audience and prompt research: map real buying questions to products, services and stages of the customer journey. Separate branded questions from discovery and comparison questions.
  2. Technical access review: inspect relevant crawler permissions, page rendering, indexability, internal links and content availability. Distinguish search access from model-training controls.
  3. Content and business information: identify inaccurate claims, missing answers, weak product details and conflicting entity information. State who writes, checks and publishes changes.
  4. External source work: explain which publications, directories, communities or other sources matter in your market. Specify the proposed contribution and approval process.
  5. Measurement and handover: supply the prompt set, definitions, repeat-run method, observations and change log. Give the business access to its reports and agreed exports.

OpenAI's publisher guidance identifies OAI-SearchBot for discovery in ChatGPT search and treats GPTBot as a training control. These are different purposes. Ask the provider to explain a proposed crawler change before applying a blanket allow or block rule. See OpenAI's publisher guidance.

An audit can be useful without implementation. Make that boundary explicit: a report, a developer-ready task and a published fix are three different deliverables. Count the work your team must supply when comparing fees.

How should you measure AI-search visibility?

Measure a defined sample repeatedly and report each outcome separately. A screenshot establishes what appeared in that observation; it does not establish typical visibility, campaign impact or revenue.

Start with the buying questions your sales and support teams hear. For a payroll-software business, useful examples include "Which UK payroll tools support several legal entities?" and "How does this provider handle payroll migration?" Include questions where the business is absent as well as those where it already appears.

Record these details with every observation:

  • Question: exact prompt, business intent and whether the brand was named.
  • Conditions: engine, available model or mode, country, language and relevant account context.
  • Date and repetition: collection time, number of runs, missing responses and changes to the method.
  • Result: brand mention, linked source, factual accuracy, recommendation context and any relevant competitor.
  • Business outcome: attributable referral visits, qualified enquiries or transactions, with the attribution limits stated.

Keep a consistent benchmark set when comparing periods. Add new questions separately so a changing sample cannot create the appearance of progress. Ask the agency to retain unsuccessful observations and report variation between runs.

What do the platform reports actually tell you?

Google includes AI-feature traffic within Search Console's Web reporting. A report for keywords that show AI Overviews is therefore not an isolated count of visits from AI Overview citations.

Microsoft's AI Performance reporting measures citations across supported Microsoft AI experiences. Citation counts do not establish ranking, prominence or customer actions. Use the Bing Webmaster Tools measurement definitions when interpreting a provider's dashboard.

Use referral analytics and your enquiry or sales records for downstream outcomes. Label uncertain attribution. Do not turn a rise in sampled mentions into a claim that revenue increased because of AEO.

How much do AEO agencies cost in the UK?

AEO prices depend on scope, implementation and measurement. Compare a written total for the engagement, including setup, recurring work and the resources your team supplies.

My AI Visibility Audit is published at £1,500 fixed fee. Ongoing fractional support starts at £1,500 per month. These are my offer prices, not a market average or a quote for the other providers.

The profiles above identify other published starting prices and quote-only services. A PR minimum, a GEO audit and an ongoing integrated programme are not interchangeable. Confirm VAT treatment, availability and the current commercial terms directly with each provider.

What belongs in a comparable quote?

Request the audit fee, monthly delivery allowance, minimum term, tool costs, content costs, development time and approval workload. Ask whether prompt tracking is included and what access or exports remain available after the engagement ends.

Separate the fee for advice from the fee for implementation. An inexpensive report can create substantial follow-up work, while a larger retainer might already include that work. Compare the final delivery responsibilities rather than the headline price alone.

Treat forecasting as a scenario with stated assumptions. No sampled visibility score supplies a reliable conversion forecast by itself. Set a budget you can justify against your buying cycle and agree the evidence that would support continuing, changing or stopping the programme.

What should happen in the first 90 days?

Use the first 90 days to establish measurement, deliver priority changes and review early evidence. This is a suggested project sequence, not a promised time to appear in an AI answer.

Days 1-30: establish the baseline

Agree the target market, buying questions, competitors and measurement definitions. Check relevant access and indexing issues. Review the sources already appearing in answers and separate factual errors from missing coverage.

Require a prioritised backlog with named owners. Identify legal, subject-matter or product approvals early so the delivery plan reflects the work your team can approve.

Days 31-60: implement the agreed work

Publish the priority content and information fixes. Complete approved technical changes and begin relevant external-source work. Keep a change log so later observations can be examined alongside actual activity.

Continue measuring the original prompt set. Record product or model changes that could affect comparisons. Confirm which delays come from the provider, your team or an external dependency.

Days 61-90: review evidence and choose the next step

Compare repeated observations against the baseline and inspect referral or enquiry data separately. Explain what changed, what remains uncertain and what work was completed.

Decide whether to extend delivery, narrow the prompt set or redirect budget. A satisfactory report explains disappointing results and recommends a next step instead of adding more unexplained visibility scores.

Which AEO claims should you question?

Question claims that promise control over answers, hide measurement or replace useful work with a label. Apply the same checks to every provider, including my consultancy.

  • Guaranteed recommendations: request the contractual deliverable and remedy. An agency does not control every answer an external product generates.
  • One impressive screenshot: request repeated observations, the prompt sample, dates and missing results. A selected answer can be real without being representative.
  • Special schema as the entire service: ask what user-visible problem the markup solves. Google's guidance does not require dedicated AI schema for its AI search features.
  • Traffic presented as citations: require separate definitions for mentions, links, sessions and conversions. A change in one metric does not measure the others.
  • Unsupported competitor claims: ask for the comparison method before accepting assertions that every other agency lacks results or expertise.
  • Manufactured authority: reject fabricated reviews, false expertise and undisclosed promotional placements presented as independent editorial evidence.

Challenge case studies politely and specifically. Ask whether other SEO, paid-media or PR campaigns ran during the same period. Check whether a percentage describes a small sample, a selected topic or a company-wide outcome.

A credible proposal can acknowledge uncertainty while committing to useful work. Prefer inspectable methods, clear responsibilities and agreed decision points over certainty about how every AI product will behave.

Do you need an AEO agency, a consultant or your existing team?

Choose the delivery model around the work and the capacity to implement it. Hiring another provider is not automatically the right first step.

Use an agency when the project needs coordinated technical, editorial, PR and measurement delivery. Confirm the people assigned to the account, their availability and what still falls to your developers or subject experts.

Use a consultant when a named specialist can diagnose the problem and work directly with your team. Ask who handles production work and how additional writing, development or PR capacity is arranged.

Use your existing SEO team when it can extend a sound programme with explicit AI-search measurement and source analysis. Compare the revised scope against the same checklist rather than paying twice for the same technical audit.

Start internally when the business first needs a clearer view of its buying questions and content gaps. Gather real customer questions, inspect a small set of answers and record observations consistently. Commission specialist help when you can describe the gap and the decision the work must support.

The broader SEO company guide helps when your primary need is a wider organic-search programme. This article focuses on choosing and assessing answer-engine work.

How was this AEO shortlist selected?

This is an editorial shortlist based on public services and evidence checked on 12 September 2026. Providers appear alphabetically, including the author's labelled consultancy. Position does not indicate a performance ranking.

The review checked current AEO, GEO or AI-search offers, relevant public case studies, published prices and the delivery scope a buyer would need to confirm. Aira is included specifically for off-site GEO and digital PR; the profile makes that limitation visible. The list is selective and does not cover every UK provider.

Evidence limits: linked case studies are published by the providers. No client analytics, contracts or campaign outcomes were independently audited. A service page establishes what a company offers; it does not prove that the service caused a result.

Commercial disclosure: I sell AI visibility services and wrote this guide. Sunny Patel is included in the main list with an author label. Tom Riley has also included me in his GEO and AI SEO consultant guides; that connection is disclosed in his profile lower down the comparison.

Check the current price, staffing and terms before hiring. Use the proposal scorecard below to rate the evidence supplied for your business. The scores are yours, not ratings assigned to these agencies by this article.

Make the decision

How do your AEO proposals compare?

Rate the evidence in each proposal from 0 to 5. These are suggested buying criteria and your own scores, not ratings of the providers above. A serious concern about methods or ownership should outweigh a high total.

0 = absent; 1 = weak; 2 = partial; 3 = adequate; 4 = strong; 5 = excellent. Total = the sum of each rating ÷ 5 × its weight. Complete all five criteria to see a total.

Common questions about AEO agencies

Which is the best AEO agency in the UK?

The best fit depends on the work you need, the evidence supplied and your team's implementation capacity. This guide compares eight providers by delivery scope, published prices and questions to ask. Sunny Patel, the author, is included with a clear commercial disclosure. The list is an alphabetical editorial shortlist, not an independently tested ranking.

Is AEO different from GEO and SEO?

AEO focuses on visibility in answers, recommendations and cited sources. GEO and AI SEO are overlapping service labels used by providers. Compare the named engines, measurement method and actual work in the proposal. Technical access, useful content and accurate business information remain relevant to both traditional search and AI search.

How much should I budget for AEO?

Request a quote for the audit, implementation, content, tools and ongoing measurement you need. Sunny Patel's published AI Visibility Audit is £1,500, with fractional support from £1,500 per month. Other providers publish different starting prices or require a bespoke quote. Confirm scope, minimum term, additional costs and VAT before comparing fees.

Can an AEO agency guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend me?

No provider controls every answer that ChatGPT or another external platform produces. Ask for commitments about research, implementation and measurement, together with the terms of any commercial guarantee. Repeated observations and relevant business outcomes are more useful than a promise based on one selected answer.

How long does AEO take to show results?

There is no reliable universal deadline. Use the first 90 days to establish a baseline, complete priority changes and inspect early evidence. Results depend on the starting point, market, implementation and the products being measured. Agree milestones and a decision point for continuing or changing the programme.

Do I need special schema or an AI text file?

Google says no special schema or new AI text file is required for AI Overviews or AI Mode. Appropriate structured data still needs to match visible content. Ask a provider to explain which platform requirement any proposed file or markup addresses; it is not a universal guarantee of inclusion in AI answers.

Give each shortlisted provider the same market, prompt examples and objectives.
