What is semantic SEO?
Semantic SEO organises content around subjects, their relationships and the questions people need answered. I use it to make a site's content easier to understand and navigate while keeping each page focused on a distinct customer intent.
The work combines query research, page ownership, content briefs and internal links. A semantic content network still needs accurate information, useful evidence and technically accessible pages. It does not make a website immune to ranking changes.
What does my semantic SEO service cover?
My semantic SEO service maps the relationship between your business, its audience and the content needed to support customer decisions. The agreed scope determines which research, planning and implementation tasks are included.
- Business context: identify the services, products and decisions that the content needs to support.
- Query research: group real search queries and customer questions by subject and purpose.
- Page ownership: assign each intent to an existing URL or a justified new page.
- Content briefs: specify the answer, supporting evidence, qualifications and useful format.
- Internal linking: connect explanations and services where the next step helps the reader.
The topical map service provides the content architecture. Semantic SEO applies that architecture to the answers on individual pages and their relationships.
How does semantic SEO differ from keyword research?
Keyword research identifies the language and demand associated with searches. Semantic SEO uses that research to plan complete answers and meaningful connections between topics. Both can work together.
A query variation does not automatically need another page. Two phrases may express the same intent. I check the existing answer and competing page ownership before creating separate content. Distinct tasks can justify distinct pages even when they share a keyword.
How are content passages written?
A useful passage names its subject and answers the section's question directly. Claims stay with their evidence and qualifications. Comparisons retain their criteria and table headers. Instructions retain the prerequisites needed to use them correctly.
Self-contained passages help readers understand an answer away from its surrounding page. They do not require a fixed word count. A connected explanation may need several paragraphs. Splitting it into short fragments can remove essential context.
Does semantic SEO improve AI citations?
Clear answers and distinctive evidence can make a page useful as a source. They do not guarantee that ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity or Google will retrieve or cite it. Passage relevance and observed citations are separate measurements.
Google's AI search guidance does not require special AI markup or a separate optimisation method. I check discovery and snippet eligibility alongside content quality. Live citation tests record the platform, prompt and observed source URL rather than treating a content score as visibility.
How do I measure results?
Search Console provides query and landing-page impressions and clicks. Analytics provides recorded visits and enquiry events. Repeated AI query samples can show citations or mentions in the answers tested. Each measurement has a different scope.
I record the release date and compare complete periods. Other site changes, query demand and answer variability can affect the result. Publication frequency and page count are implementation measures. They are not evidence that rankings or enquiries improved.
What technical foundations are needed?
Semantic SEO needs pages that visitors and search crawlers can access. Canonical URLs, crawl controls and internal links are checked alongside the content plan. Technical access enables evaluation of a page. It does not prove the page will be selected.
The technical SEO audit is a separate investigation for crawl, index and performance problems. Its £495 scope and walkthrough are described on the audit page.
How do we start?
A free 20-minute SEO diagnosis focuses on your biggest search problem and the next useful step. A full content audit, topical map or implementation project is scoped separately after that discussion.
